Disaster weddings get second chances in Katrineholm, Sweden

Did the dress catch fire? Did heavy rain hit the reception? Did your dog eat the wedding cake? Disappointed couples whose big day took a wrong turn now have the chance to redo their wedding day all over again. No matter what went wrong, one couple will get the chance to turn their disaster into a dream.

The town of Katrineholm in Sweden is offering a complete new wedding for one couple whose big day went sideways. Anyone can now apply to win a second-chance wedding by sharing the story of how everything went wrong the first time. The new big day will take place on August 22, 2026, at the historic 17th-century manor Stora Djulö Herrgård, set in beautiful surroundings next to one of the many lakes in Katrineholm.

“Katrineholm is the ultimate place for that second chance, where everything is perfect for a dream wedding. Located only an hour outside of Stockholm, our beautiful settings, striking nature and locally farmed flowers and food awaits.” says Johan Söderberg, President of the municipal board in Katrineholm.

The initiative is backed by local partners who all are contributing with everything and anything you might need for the wedding. Handpicked flowers, locally sourced food and beverages, your very own professional photographer, custom-made rings and more. Together they all contribute to the wedding experience, as well as represent the very best of Katrineholm and Sörmland.

“We are looking for couples who want to rewrite history and create that perfect love story. Who want to erase memories of failed fortunes and once and for all make their wedding dreams this time come through. That’s why we have gathered the very best of Katrineholm in one big love manifest,” says Jakob Jansson, CEO of +Katrineholm.
